As members of the Bay Area Jewish community, it can feel almost impossible to have a constructive conversation about the State of Israel. And yet, this year in YAFE we will be bravely leaning into the difficult nature of this discourse. Join us as we commit to a year long fellowship of learning, conversation, and community that will help to shape how we engage with Israel in our YAFE community.

What: Throughout this YAFE program year, we will join together 1-2 times per month for learning and respectful conversation surrounding the State of Israel. In preparation for each session together, we will read and then reflect on Daniel Sokatch’s book, Can We Talk About Israel?: A Guide for the Curious, Confused, and Conflicted. We will work towards creating a living document of Enduring Understandings – a vision for how Israel can be brought into the YAFE community. This fellowship is meant for anyone with any prior experience or connection with Israel - or not! - who is interested in respectful learning and conversation. 

When: We will meet from 5:00-6:00 pm on Thursday evenings on the above dates (A note: we understand life is busy and it is scary to make a full year of commitment to something!
